LaCrosse Alpha Lite Hunting Boots – Not So Tough
Posted by: | CommentsI grabbed this pair of boots about 3 years ago as I felt that I needed some really high boots (these are 18 inches high) and completely waterproof. Some of the areas that I use to hunt would flood and after the flood, there would be these deceptive little side creeks that looked perfectly fine to walk across until you stepped in and sank up to your knee in muck.

Mine didn't look exactly like the one pictured, but you get the general idea. I have to admit that they performed really well in the beginning. Although this was the first pair of hightop boots I had ever purchased, I did grow to like the higher ride as I could tuck my pants leg inside the boots and it did a great job of keeping ticks and chiggers off my feet.
Would I buy the La Crosse Alpha boot again? Probably not. I was kind of disappointed in the durability of the boot. The second month I owned the boots, I stepped into a submerged hole and a stick ran right through the rubber. Needless to say my boots are no longer waterproof. The Alpha Lite's I had were 1200 grams of thinsulate, so they were very warm. Too bad they weren't a bit more durable.

Which combat boots should I get?
Posted by: | CommentsI have been thinking about getting a new pair of combat boots because the issue ones are pretty uncomfortable. Before I spend the money I wanted to see what other people think.
These are my top two picks so far:
http://www.blackhawk.com/product1.asp?P=83BT02&C=C1779
and
http://www.danner.com/product/id/104123.do
I am in the army and as far as I know the boots can't have a side zipper and have to be "dessert tan"
Oh, and the first pair can be ordered in the regular dessert tan.
what is the best boot to wear for the police academy?
Posted by: | CommentsI had a surgery last year, I have pins in my foot and a couple fused joints (but still have dorsal movement, just not lateral). Anyway, my left foot is 1 1/2 sizes difference. (my left foot is 9.5 and my right is an 11). My problem is, Danner is the best boot for law enforcement, but they wont sell split size shoes. Anybody know of a place that does?
They are these boots. http://store.publicsafetyunlimited.com/da26027
and I have had them for about 8 months, I recently washed them with warm water and a brush and let them dry for about a week. Now the left one only is so squeaky, it comes from all over, not just the heel or toe. I have to wear them everyday, what can I do?
Cleaning and Caring for Hunting Boots
Posted by: | CommentsWhile a good pair of hunting boots is one of the most durable things ever created, they do need a little TLC every now and then.

Here are some quick and easy tips to take care of your boots:
#1 - At least once a year, give them a good cleaning. Take a nylon brush with a little bot of water and give them a good once over. Rinse them off using a damp sponge, and then let them air dry.
#2 - Apply a good quality boot conditioner or leather conditioner at least once a year as well if your boots are leather. There are a number of leather "conditioners" on the market, but I would make sure that I used a product that was specifically designed for boots. Some leather cleaners contain softening agents or alcohol that will dry leather out. I personally use a boot cleaner made by Rocky that does a great job.
If used, those 2 little tips will add years of life to most any pair of hunting boots.
which Combat boots to choose from?
Posted by: | CommentsI'm looking at Black hawk warrior wear, Converse, Danner, and Oakley and was wondering which one was the best. Please give me your opinion on them or another type of boots.
Army soldiers please answer danner vs belleville?
Posted by: | CommentsI need a boot that is pretty narrow I got narrow feet it also needs to be somewhat supportive... what would be the better choice belleville or danner. note both have narrow widths but overall whats more narrower and better.
Are “Desert TFX Tan Rough Out” Danner brand boots permissible under 670-1 optional wear?
Posted by: | CommentsIt seems to me like AR670-1 optional wear states that you can wear them if your commander says its okay. I'm just currious if I actully have to ask since these boots just have a curvy sole. They aren't the Converse or Oakley boots.
Turkey Hunting Boots
Posted by: | CommentsAs turkey season is only a few weeks away, now is the time to start planning for opening day. Most turkey hunters spend hundreds on turkey shotguns, calls, and camo; but don't really think about their boots.

Three things come to mind when turkey hunting:
- Major league camo - Turkey's have amazing eyesight and are one of the few hunted game that is not color blind. That being said, good camo is an absolute must.
- Snakes - Since Turkey season is in the spring, snakes are a possibility, especially in the warmer states.
- Heat - Spring can be downright hot in some parts of the U.S.
While camo boots aren't really needed, I would certainly think the snake protection is worthwhile. My biggest issue with turkey hunting use to be the fact that I wore my winter hunting boots so my feet were so hot they almost caught on fire. I finally bought a pair of boots that were specifically designed for warm weather turkey hunting. They had very light insulation so they were pretty comfortable.
