Good Hunting boots?
justin.design asked:
I am trying to find a good pair of hunting boots, it seems like every time i buy a pair of boots they only last me a season. I hunt deer, pheasant, quail, turkey, duck and sometime hog. I am not in very tough conditions at all, I live in Oklahoma, the coldest I hunt in is usually about 30 degrees or so. Anyone got any suggestions? price is not an issue, although the cheaper the better.
Any suggestions?

I have a pair of Carolina boots that I wear for work as well as hunting. I have been wearing the same pair for at least 5 years. I clean them and waterproof them 2 or 3 times a year but that is about it.

Any combat boots work just fine. I got some desert tan boots that are Army-okay and fire resistant. If it’s good enough for the military it should surely work for you eh?

Check out the Danner line. They aren’t cheap but they are tough. Mine lasted me until my feet got too wide for them. Had them for over 20 years. Wore them in Maine winters California mountains and Arizona deserts.

I hunt below Austin. Mostly hogs and deer. These boots are probably not the best for scent but as far as a boot that won’t wear out after one season, this is them. These are Chippewa’s 17″ snake proof. Rattlers are nasty down here. There are cheaper versions if you don’t like the camo but I own an earlier version of this style and I will probably never buy another brand. I love them. Here is a link but you can usually find them in Cabella’s.

All rubber boots are hard to get on and off. Muck boots are afordable, easy on and off, warm, and last long.

Irish settler zip up snake proof boots…. i have a pair and i love them. Do not have to worry about the laces, and it gives me the safe feeling of being protected from snakes… and they are comfortable.

ROCKY snake boots I live in OK and hunt the same/same i wear my waders of course to duck hunt but the Rocky’s everywhere else I **** the laces but i found that i can loosen them to add sock layers if need be. I did not think i needed the snake proof i just wanted light comfy quiet waterproofs over 16 ” rubbers are so clunky i cant find a pair i like. Now there is a zip up rocky snakeboot. I have had my snakeboots since 99 and they have held up super good.

Forget the cheap boots! Buy some Danner’s. Loggers wear ‘em and US Army soldiers do too. Their is a reason. Best boots made that are not custom made. For custom’s see Whites.

Danner are the best fitting boots I have ever had, right out of the box. They also seem to last forever.
