removing smell from hunting boots ?

how can i remove the smell from my hunting boots. They got wet last year and they smelled aweful but i thought that they would air out in the off season and they still smell. What can i do to them to take the smell out. I want somethign that works thought cause they are good boots.

I usually wash any smells with a disinfectant straight away but as they still smell it sounds like they have a mould growing in them. You might have to wash them in bleach but be careful that the bleach doesn’t fade the colour. You might need to check with a shoe specialist

Try putting baking soda (two tablespoons in each boot) in them, shake the boot to get the soda everywhere inside, let them sit overnight, dump out the soda, then repeat as required.

About once a week, I sprinkle baking soda in my boots to control the odor-you sound as if you may have a mold problem from putting up the boots wet- you may have to deal with that first with a chemical designed for the elimination of mold.

Their is a product called odorxit clo2 that produces a gas called chlorine dioxide. It kills mold with the gas produced by a little packet of powder. Put it in your boot and let it sit a few days it should kill what stinks. Don’t use Beach, because you will track that smell into the woods with you. Use things that have little scent and can be covered by Estrus or urine after they are clean.

I would spray my cleats and guards down with Lysol after every game. My hubby won’t let me spray his hunting stuff because the deer will smell it. However, when the boots are wet, I find that it helps to roll up newspaper and stuff it in the boots. The newspaper helps draw out the water and smell. Baking soda is okay at removing smells. Some of the products that are sold specifically to de-oderize shoes can be helpful. Sometimes, letting shoes bake in the sun with tongues and shoelaces out helps A LOT (to increase the effectiveness I will put them inside a hot car–but not mine) to kill off the funk. or try a combo of different solutions.

IF YOUR HUNTING DEER THEN YOUR BEST BET IS TO GET A NEW PAIR BECAUSE YOU PROBLY WONT GET RID OF THE SMELL YOU MAY COVER IT AND DEER SEASON IS GETTING CLOSE AND YOU DONT WANT TO COVER THE SMELL AND HAVE THE COVER WEAR OFF IN THE WOODS
GET A NEW PAIR AND SAVE YOUR SELF THE TROUBLE
AND STORE THEM DRY IN A SENT CONTROLL BAG IN THE OFF SEASON
