I wear both Justin and Chippewa and both are excellent. The Chippewas might be a better bet for a lady. Good luck!

I use my normal boots with a set of really good gaitors. Why, well I like my walking/hunting boots and Gaitors are cheap and easy.

Basically unless your getting bitten by the snake with the hollow fangs (don’t ask me which one that is) you will be fine even if you do get spiked because the venom gets wiped off the fang as it goes thru your clothing/gaitor.

I wasn’t paranoid either until I was faced off by an angry Tiger Snake who should have known better than to front a dude packing a high power rifle, Me 1 – Snake 0. Now I **** them with a passion, nearly as bad as cats!

Although I’ve never used them myself, leggings work better than boots for protection against snake bite. You have two basic kinds, hard plastic that just kinda wrap around your calfs and canvas & mesh that tie with straps. Sporting goods stores carry them during hunting season. Where I hunt the only reason we use boots is because of the grass burrs & needle grass. We use slip on boots without any kind of laces to keep the burrs off and we just watch for snakes. Of course you can buy snake boots if you don’t mind spending a little more money and it makes you feel safer.

I have a pair of snake boots, that I use for hiking in the spring when the rattlesnakes dont rattle. Got them at Bass Pro Shop for like $80. They work pretty well too, I got the fang marks and venom stain to prove it.

Honey, I just don’t see wearing snake boots hunting! I have never in my life saw anyone wear snake boots, only if you want to wade the swamps!*

most fairly heavy leather boots will prevent a snake bite. at sweetwater tx. they have a rattlesnake roundup each year, and the most common boot worn seems to be a normal cowboy boot. i have seen the handlers provoke the snakes to strike their feet repeatedly without any *********** of the boot.
make sure your boot is of good quality leather with a top at least 8in high, and you should be good to go. they also make a product called snake chaps, which go on over the leg above the foot that extend up to the knee.

Out of the ones I have used, Academy sports carry some made by Magellan, they seem to be the most comfortable as far as effectiveness it’s hard to say as I have never had the misfortune of being struck, but I have owned others and they were to uncomfortable to wear all day, so my advice is to check out several pair and see which are most comfortable to you, I wear my Magellans all the time as I am not only an avid outdoorsman I am also a Land Surveyor and am constantly coming across snakes, in fact I killed a Timber rattler over 6 ft long with 14 rattles last summer, Biggest one i’ve ever seen, but I kill a lot of cottonmouths.
So get boots that you can comfortably wear all day cause they’ll do you no good if you don’t have them on.

I wouldn’t know, but remember to make sure that they protect your ankles as well.
