What is your preferred brand for field boots and show helmets?
LO asked:
I am getting new riding gear for graduation this spring and was just wondering what brand people preferred for boots and helmets? I ride hunt seat equitation and over fences. Thanks!
I've always just used Ariats and Troxel as well, but i was wondering if those were the best or if people liked different brands more.

For boots, there’s really only one way to go: Ariat! They make some of the most comfortable, durable boots I’ve ever seen. They last for years, are stylish, and extremely comfortable.
For helmets, Troxel and Charles Owen are both excellent brands.

I LOVE ariat boots! I once saw a question on here about what she should do about going out puddles with her boots because she didn’t want them to dry and ***** and I just thought to myself, “Hm… I use my Ariats in snow, rain, mud, washing my horse…I never knew that could happen!” And yet, I’ve been riding for ten years and just had to buy my second pair of paddock boots because my first pair did get holes in the side. But, about nine years of abuse (I don’t wash or clean or take care of my paddock boots because, well, I’m lazy) and they lasted that long! I think that’s pretty good!
I don’t really know the difference between helmets… Sorry I couldn’t help you out on that one! I only wear them for when I take lessons or show! And I buy pretty much whatever fits!

Ariats ALL the way for boots. Can’t go wrong with them. As for Helmets I would do Charles owen. the are GREAt quality and LAST forEVER. They are a little pricey but you pay for the excellent quality and fit.

Ariat boots are the best non-custom boots out there. If you want custom though there’s DerDau, E. Vogel, Sergio Grasso…
As far as helmets go GPA, Charles Owen, and IRH are the most popular- and you should get whichever fits you the best. For example I wanted a helmet that went down farther on my neck so I tried the GPAs and none of them fit me, so I ended up with an IRH.

For any type of show clothes, if I can I always buy Ariat!
As for helmets definitely Charles Owen! I like GPA’s but they aren’t as comfortable and lightweight as Charles Owens! Plus GPA’s are ridiculously expensive.

welll it depends on how much you want to spend.
But for helmets i have a GPA.. which i have found is an excellent helmet and is very safe. In addition charles owen is a very good helmet company and makes very safe pretty helmets also. IRH’s are good too although they do not fit as well as charles owens or GPA’s and they are also not as pretty because they are quite a bit less expensive.
When it comes to field boots i have sergio grassos. I actually only got them a few weeks ago. They were really easy to break in because of the soft calf leather. And they are very pretty. Although ariats are good boots to.
