I got blisters on my heel from a 6 mile hike. What should I change in my boots?
ByWe did a 6 mile force march today and I got blisters on directly under my heel. It is painful to put pressure on that foot, and I have let the fluid drain to release the pressure. I am currently wearing size 9 EE Danner 26027 boots. I am thinking about buying some Danner 26014. What should I change to prevent the blisters. I was thinking smaller by 1/2 size because my feel are sliding???? I don't get blisters when walking around base, just the long hike. I have done some runs (up to 2 mi) in them with no blisters as well. I want the 26014's for running and marches.

use hot weather hiking socks there thicker which will stop the boots from slipping but they wick away moisture also try mole skin on your heals it worked for me when i was in the army.

Well if they are broken in like you claim to be I`d get better socks. If its really bothering you I`d look into get a hiking sock liner, the liner is usually a really thin tight sock something like lycra or silk it cuts down on the friction on your skin and the liner takes the brunt of it. If you cant get your hands on liners get a thin pair of nylon dress socks they`ll work just as good but tend to smell. The slicker they feel the better and just wear them under the hiking socks.
In a real pinch put a square of duct tape on the part of your heal thats giving you trouble. Obviously dont put it on top of the blister so cover the soft skin with a bandaid or gauze then cover the area in duct tape. It`ll act like armored skin.
