They were probably the most comfortable thing I had ever worn, as far as boots were concerned. They do have a drawback, though (besides being comparatively expensive [$250/pair]), and that is that they are a pain to shine. At least, the full leather Recon was. May I suggest going with an all leather pair of Rocky's? Still a good,comfortable boot, take a shine better, and are about half the cost. If you're going to the academy, a good pair of running shoes is more important than boots. You'll need them for the PT.
