Cold Weather Footwear Question?
shiznizzal24 asked:
Ok i deer hunt. I wear 1000g thinsulate boots by rocky. In 50 degree weather with wool socks my feet turn to icicles after an hour. In 30 degree weather same setup with wool socks my feet freeze in an hour, no matter the temp outside my feet freeze in an hour. my dad took the boots and wore them in 20 degree weather with cotton socks and stayed fine for 3 hours. The boots are not tight. they fit perfect. They are not laced to tight. Any ideas? They are a year old.

I am along time Alaskan hunter and trapper – you live and die by your boots.
Sounds like you either have poor circulation, or, your feet are perspiring. They make special thin nylon socks specifically to help wick away moisture from your feet. Wearing this under your wool socks will make a huge difference.
Most people who ware 1000 thinsulate boots only wear the above mentioned socks. You don’t need the wool anymore.
If all else fails – take a look at ‘bunny boots’. These are military extreme cold weather boots. You can buy them in surplus stores. It’s what we all wear in Alaska when the temps hits -45F to -70F.
Hope this hellps

Are you walking alot? If so your feet sweat and you should take a pair of socks so you can change them when you get where your going.
