Working as a correctional officer, wanting to find a good pair of boots?

I am a woman, if that helps any! I'm really clueless to what kind to buy. I don't want any that are too high, 6-8". Thanks for the help!
EDIT: I forgot to mention they have to be completely black, shineable toes at least, kinda like most of the military style boots I've seen.
Anyone tried that Bates Womens Enforcers?
