Can I buy boots that are a size smaller than my regular foot size?
W asked:
Hello. I'm looking at buying a pair of Wolverine work boots. However, it's a clearance sale and they don't have my size. My foot size is 10, however, I find that size 9.5 feels nice and snug (which I like)

The boots I want are available only in size 9. Would this be a problem for my size 10 feet?
If it is a problem, there are steel-toe boots available in my size. What are the benefits of steel-toe? Do they make the boots any heavier?

You will end up with sore and blistered feet. You can try the 9 and return them if they don’t fit. Steel toe caps protect the toes in factories and building sites where something heavy could fall onto them. They are heavier than normal boots and can sometimes be uncomfortable across the toes. Again I would try them on and send them back if they don’t fit.

Dont do it, especially with work boots… feet swell at different times during the day… and when your working… the blood is rushing, your sweating… your feet expand… I know because I bought my size and this happened… with the steel toes I had to go a size bigger…. so buying smaller is a no no…. dont waste your money….

why in the world would you buy boots that are too small, Wolverine’s are a good choice as it’s the only boot I ware because of the way they fit and there anti slip soles, Highly recommended for tractor mechanics that work in an oily mess all day and don’t want there feet hurting by the end of the day, tried the Red wings but didn’t like them as much, as far as steel toe you wont notice any difference in weight in most cases, but you’ll be glad you have them if something falls on your toes, if your using them for there intended use, Work Boots they really really really need to fit right, an ill fitting boot can ruin your day in a hurry
