If they absorb moisture easily then you can use aniline dyes to soak into the leather and this will not come off on anything as it is sealed in. If you want a pigment coating then BRIT colours will colour over either aniline or pigment leathers and can then be finished and again should not come off. It will need to be applied regularly, if infact it will be absorbed in to the leather. I once had a customer who wanted some beige leather shoes dyed navy blue for a wedding. there were two different leathers used and only the toes turned out dark blue. After the wedding she had Smurf feet until she grew new skin.
